A touchdown pass from Thad Dial to Andrew Carter with time running out gave the Glasgow Middle School 7th grade Scotties a 14-8 victory over Wayne County in the regional championship game of the Kentucky Middle School Football Association playoffs this past weekend in Campbellsville.
“I knew Wayne County would have a good football team, so I figured this game would probably come down to the wire,” said Glasgow coach Stephen Mitchell. “Wayne County is very fundamentally sound and solid on defense. I didn’t think it would be a six-point game, though.”
Jaden Franklin ran the ball over for the 2-point conversion to secure the final 14-8 victory.
The Scotties will now play in the two-day state championship playoffs in Lexington on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday’s first-round games are at Lexington Catholic High School with the finals on Sunday at Bryan Station High School.
