Ashton Foushee clutched her regional golf championship trophy pretty tightly Tuesday night as she and her Glasgow High School teammates had their team picture taken after winning the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Region 4 Golf Tournament.
Foushee shot 38 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine for a 74 to help the Lady Scotties shoot a 320 team total, 19 shots better than second place Taylor County at 339. Monroe County finished third at 341.
“My irons were really on point today. My drives put me in the middle of the fairway and then my irons got me on the green,” said Foushee. “And I did well on birdie putts. I had probably four or five birdies today.
“I haven’t been playing well for about the last week and a half and I actually shot 47 on the back nine on this course just last week. So I had no idea I would be able to come out here and shoot this well. I just tried to keep a level head today.”
