After last week’s 35-0 shutout loss to Holy Cross, the Caverna Colonels look to get back in the win column this week when they take to the field Friday against Kentucky Country Day (KCD).
The Colonels (1-7, 0-2) are a young team, and head coach Rodney Middleton said his players are aware of the task that awaits them.
The Bearcats are sporting a 7-1 record and are averaging 40 points per game, while only allowing a little more than 15 points per game, a statistic Middleton is well aware of.
“We just looking to get better as a team,” he said. “We know what we are up against. This is the last go-round for our seniors. At this point, we need to let them get their time in, but we also need to get the younger guys some work, and the seniors understand that.”
Middleton said the team will have to play with a sense of urgency, on both sides of the ball, against a high-caliber team like KCD.
“They have really taken the reins of the district,” he said. “They are a very seasoned football team. They have a running game and they have an excellent quarterback.”
