Trojanettes finish 2nd in region

GLASGOW — Glasgow sends three to state

Glasgow’s boys finished fourth out of six teams, but because there were six full teams in the Region 2, Class A field, only three teams qualified for state.

“In the boys’ division, with only six full teams competing, we finished fourth overall, about where I thought we would finish. I thought the boys, all of them, ran their best race of the year. I think they peaked at the right time,” explained Glasgow Cross Country Coach Mindy Sorrels.

The coach explained only three girls ran, not enough for a full team, and two of those qualified for state.

“We only competed with three girls and I thought all of them ran very well,” Sorrels said. “Marissa Moore and Ashlyn Brown qualified for the state meet next week. I wasn’t surprised by the way Marissa ran. She did a great job and finished second overall. Ashlyn ran so well and I am not sure she realizes how good she is,” the coach said.

The Glasgow runners will be competing in the 1A state competition on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The girls’ race  will begin at 8:30 a.m. CST with the boys staring at 9:15 a.m.
