The Glasgow High School Scotties closed out baseball’s regular season last week on somewhat of a slide, for them, losing three of their final four games.
But the Scotties have seemed to turn things around. After beating Monroe County 2-0 in the semifinals of the 15th District Baseball Tournament on Monday, Glasgow came back to knock off Allen County-Scottsville 5-2 Thursday to take the tournament title.
“Baseball is a team game. It is made up of individuals, but it is a team game,” said Glasgow Coach Sam Royse. “Matt Shives swung a big bat for us today. Ryan Hinkley is probably swinging the bat as well as he has all year. I could go on and on.
“There are a lot of people that go unheralded that contributed for us tonight in a big way. This was just a tremendous effort for our guys to come over here and win this ballgame.”
