6:45 EVENING UPDATE: Taylor performs well for Transylvania swim team

LEXINGTON — Former Glasgow High swimmer Meghan Taylor has been performing well in her freshman season at Transylvania University.

Due to her outstanding performance recently, Taylor was named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Taylor took first place in the 50 freestyle and finished a strong second place in both the 100 and 200 freestyle, while anchoring the 400 free relay team, in events against Union College (Ky.) this past weekend. Taylor currently tops the conference in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Coach Dunaway noted that Taylor "impresses us with her grit and competitiveness as she progresses into her first year. Taylor has taken the initiative to learn the 200 freestyle in her first season."
"This is a tough event to 'learn' how to swim as it is not really a sprint, but not at a distance event either," said Coach Dunaway. "Her ability to grasp it, learn from it, and trust herself has been quite impressive."
Transylvania swimming and diving will host the 2013 Transylvania Invitational in two weeks on December 7 and 8 at the University of Kentucky.
