Barren River Lake is still 5 feet over summer pool and stood at 557 feet Wednesday morning. Fishing is still pretty good on bass and hybrids, and a few crappie fishermen have been scoring as well. The catfish bite has been fair for juggers.
Another big local tournament is coming up this weekend when the 32nd annual Big Bass Classic is held Saturday from 6 p.m., until 2 a.m. on Sunday, out of the Port Oliver Recreation Area.
This year’s charity event will benefit the American Heart Association.
