One of the stalwarts of youth sports in Barren and Hart counties is saying goodbye. Nick Stephens, the long-time coach and athletic director at Caverna High School, has announced his retirement. Formerly an officer with the Kentucky State Police and youth sports coach for the last 37 years, Stephens said it was time to step down.
“When I started this past season, and (stepdaughter) Reagan (Kingrey) was a senior, I decided I would step away from coaching and athletic director work at the end of the year. My wife and I want to spend time going to watch Reagan play softball this fall (at Campbellsville University),” Stephens said. “This decision has been a long time coming. I decided it was time to go when I stepped down from football, and when Reagan became a senior, I knew it was time to step away completely."
