There’s an old sports cliché that says it is difficult to beat a team three times in one season.
The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriots proved that cliché to be wrong Tuesday night when they knocked off Glasgow 10-1 in the championship game of the District 15 Softball Tournament at Monroe County High School.
“I thought the girls really came together as a team this year. We had girls playing different positions this year, but they adapted well and I think that ability to adapt helped them a lot this season,” said ACS coach Robert Bunton. “I am proud of them and we just hope they can keep it going.
“It just comes down to the girls. They believe in each other, they work hard and they’re motivated to be the best they can be. And this (district title) is the fruits of our labor.”
Both teams will now prepare for next week’s Region 4 Softball Tournament at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. The tournament draw is scheduled for Saturday.
