Somerset nips Glasgow, 4-3

GLASGOW — The Somerset Briar Jumpers nipped the Glasgow High School Scotties 4-3 in extra innings Thursday.

The Scotties fell behind 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, and rallied to tie Somerset when Bryce Logsdon laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to score Carlos Morrison from third.

Then, with two outs and a man on second base, Briar Jumpers’ winning pitcher Heath Ehrsam intentionally walked Ryan Hinkley, who already had two hits in the game. He then coaxed Camerin Garmon to ground out to the shortstop,  stranding two Scottie runners.

The extra inning began with a long line drive to right center by Somerset’s Jacob Pelson. Glasgow’s starting pitcher JT Green, now playing center field, made a long run to get a glove on the ball, but couldn’t hang on to it. Then after a ground out by Addison Thompson, Somerset scored the winning run on another infield ground out, after an infield error advanced the runner to third.
