Trojanettes seeking upset of Allen Co.

Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW — Just by looking at the numbers, Tuesday night’s 15th District Tournament girls’ matchup between Allen County-Scottsville and Barren County shouldn’t even be close.

The Lady Patriots come into Tuesday’s game with a 23-3 overall record and possibly the best player in the region in sophomore Morgan Rich. The Trojanettes, on the other hand, are 6-18 on the season.

That could be David fighting Goliath, but don’t tell John Butler that. The veteran coach feels like he has been making steady progress with his Barren County team and the Trojanettes hope to find a way to win and make it to the regional tournament.

“For us to win, we need to keep it close early. And no matter how we guard them, we have to control the basketball,” Butler said. “We can’t throw it away 25 or 30 times. If we can keep it close, the pressure may turn to them. If we can do that, then we have a legitimate shot at an upset. And it would be an upset.

“It is a basketball game and in basketball, you can have really good nights and other teams can have poor shooting nights. Strange things can happen in a basketball game.”

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m at Barren County High School.
