Cornelius Faulkner, the head girls’ coach at Caverna High School, is pretty excited about the way his team is playing right now. The Lady Colonels are 15-10 on the season and have won four of their last seven games.
Their three losses during that span have been for a total of 21 points.
But Faulkner knows all that will mean absolutely nothing Friday when the Lady Colonels visit Glasgow High School. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
“We’ve got to do a good job trying help contain Shalika Smith on the inside,” Faulkner said.
“She’s so strong and she’s improved her game so much. And the second thing we have to do is do well against their pressure.
“We’ve got to do a good job of helping off Shalika with our big girl Reagan Kingery. Shalika is a strong presence inside, but so is Reagan Kingrey when she’s on her game.
“With (Glasgow’s) Breanna Glover and her athleticism, she and Madison Faulkner are the prototype three guards. And I think I have a guard in Ciara Waggoner that can hopefully matchup well with Kelsey Greer. The problem, as I see it, is how do we matchup everywhere else.”
