Narrows to remain closed

GLASGOW — The status is largely unchanged this week at the Narrows. The Corps of Engineers closed the marina and launch ramp Jan. 17 while construction is under way at the marina, which recently changed owners. Lake Manager Carlos Lopez said Wednesday morning the Narrows would likely be closed for at least another 30 days.

The situation there is fluid because of the weather and other issues.

The Narrows campground is not scheduled to open until the first week in May anyway, but will not be affected by the ongoing work at the marina.

The new lease owners at the Narrows are Wayne Shelton and Henry Funk, who also operate the State Park Marina, among others.

Meanwhile the Peninsula ramp, which was closed briefly due to storm damage, has now reopened along with the ramp at Port Oliver.

The Peninsula marina, which was also damaged by the same storm, is still closed at this writing along with the Tailwaters campground and parts of the facilities at Port Oliver, including the shelters and part of the lakeside walkway.
