Summer hoop season

Scotties, Trojans playing well

GLASGOW — The Glasgow Scotties and the Barren County Trojans continue to play good basketball during the summer.

The Scotties picked up a victory over Corbin High School this past week, beating the Red Hounds 67-61 in varsity action. However, Glasgow didn’t fare well against Russell County and Madison Southern, losing 73-52 and 61-49, respectively.

The Glasgow JV beat Russell County, 46-44, but lost to Corbin, 55-36.

The Trojans, playing in  the Coastal Carolina University Team Camp in Myrtle Beach, S.C., played three games Friday.

Coach Warren Cunningham said his team was rusty, but played pretty well.

“We hadn’t played basketball since we practiced Sunday, so it was a little rough early,” Cunningham said. “But we ended up playing pretty well.

“We don’t do overnight team camps very often, but this gives us a chance to spend some time together, as a team, away from basketball. And that’s very important.”

The Trojans will close out the camp on Sunday before heading home.
