Lady Scotties finish fifth at Region 4 Golf Tournament

GLASGOW — Glasgow’s Taylor Phelps, Emily Alexander and Ashton Foushee sat off by themselves Monday, behind the scorer’s table, after play had concluded in the Girls Region 4 Golf Tournament at Dale Hollow State Park.

Phelps, Alexander and Foushee, the junior trio that had guided the Lady Scotties to several tournament wins this year, were dejected and frustrated about their team’s performance.

Glasgow fired a 347 team total to finish fifth overall in the final team standings. Green County won the regional tournament with a 321 total. Allen County was second with at 329. Taylor County finished third and South Warren was fourth.

“Unfortunately today, we had a couple of holes where the girls had to take a big number on,” said Glasgow coach Kellie Lee. “But I was so proud of how they kept a level head and fought for the score they had. I couldn’t be prouder of my team.

“It wasn’t multiple swings that got you in trouble today. It was one or two swings that if you could have taken back would have defined a different round for yourself.”

Barren County finished the tournament with a team total of 377, while Monroe County was just two strokes back at 329.
