The Glasgow Lady Scotties entered the 15th District Girls' Soccer Tournament as the top seed and rolled in Game 1 on Monday night.
For the third time this season, the Lady Scotties mercy-ruled Clinton County, 10-0. Monday's win at the Glasgow-Barren County Soccer Complex pushed Glasgow to the district championship game to be played at the same location Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Scotties took seven shots at the Lady Bulldogs' goal in the first 10 minutes Monday, but couldn't get a ball through. In the 12th minute, the onslaught officially began when senior Maitlin Nuckols finally got a ball through for the first score of the game. Eight minutes later, Nuckols scored again, this time on a penalty kick after being tackled in the box.
“The match started out slow,” said Glasgow coach Kathy Jones. “Clinton County put eight players in the box and it took a little while for us to adjust.”
Carsen Parker added consecutive goals within two minutes – the first on an assist by Nuckols and the second on a cross from Meghan Taylor.
