Our Oldtimers had one of their monthly events on Barren River Lake Tuesday. Not many fishermen were out and we pretty much had the lake to ourselves.
We put in at Port Oliver ramp which was clear, but high as the water level was up to the walkways that surround the area. The wind was up and the main lake was choppy.
Wilbur Carroll and I fished together and decided the day before that we would try for bass up in the trees with spinners on top water. Some of the other guys went for crappie, cats or bluegill. Bass fishing, at least for us, turned out to be a bust. We caught one that we would have kept after switching to a medium deep running crank bait.
