Lisa Calhoun Underwood was a fighter.
When she served as coach of the softball, basketball and soccer teams at Glasgow High School, the Lady Scotties had the reputation of being scrappy, tough teams that would play hard until the horn sounded.
And for those that knew Underwood, they know those teams were just like their coach. Underwood fought to win every game and that competitive spirit included a valiant battle with cancer. Underwood lost that fight on Jan. 20 of this year at the age of 55.
And in honor of Underwood’s service to children in the community, the Lisa Calhoun Underwood Memorial Softball Showcase is scheduled for Saturday at American Legion Park.
