Prior to Tuesday’s soccer match with Glasgow High School, Barren County High School coach Laurence Nyekan showed his team the movie, “The Impossible.” The movie, starring Naomi Watts, tells the true story of a family that survives a tsunami.
The Trojans survived their “tsunami” Tuesday when they knocked off rival Glasgow by a score of 4-1.
“I thought the results we’ve had lately, with the two back-to-back losses, were not indicative of how I see us play. We’re improving,” said Nyekan. “We were having a lot of chances, but not putting teams away. Once we can do that, we will be a dangerous team.
“We watched ‘The Impossible,’ a movie about how a family, in the face of tragedy, were selfless and helped each other. A team is a family and you can cry with each other, laugh with each other. When we can start doing that, working together like a family, it will be better for everyone. We’re all in this together, with one single goal. And that is to win games and get better as the season goes along.”
