Former local prep stars have good college outings

GLASGOW — Former local high school basketball standouts Jamie Cummings, Haley Perkins and Molly Harlin were in action recently for their college teams.

Cummings and Perkins opened their hoop campaigns, while Harlin played in the third game of her college career.

Cummings, a Barren County High School graduate, helped the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders beat Mid-Continent University 78-64, while Perkins, a former GHS star, contributed to Union College’s 78-62 victory over Asbury College.

Cummings scored a double-double in her first collegiate outing, tallying 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, and pulled down 11 rebounds to help Lindsey Wilson to the victory.

Cummings and LWC will be back in action on Nov. 8 when the Blue Raiders play host to Cincinnati Christian. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

Perkins, a sophomore, scored five points and pulled down one rebound for the Lady Bulldogs. She also had one assist, one turnover, one blocked shot and one steal in the win.

Molly Harlin, a former hoop star at Monroe County, came off the bench for Asbury College against Union College. Harlin did not score for AC.

Union College will hit the road Saturday to play Indiana University Southeast, while Asbury plays at Kentucky Wesleyan Friday.
