Eight months after learning how to bowl, Barren County High School senior Travis London signed his letter of intent to join the Campbellsville University bowling team next year.
London’s job at Ralphie’s Fun Center spiked his interest in trying out bowling as a sport last March.
“I randomly thought to myself, I work at a bowling alley, I might as well learn how to bowl,” London said.
London started bowling in the spring of 2012 and that fall joined Barren County High School’s first-ever bowling team. The sport is only in its second year of being sanctioned by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. In last week’s regional tournament, the team placed third.
“We did great as a first-year team,” London said.
London placed 14th out of 36 individually at regionals. Even though he did not think that was impressive, his skill was enough to earn him a spot on Campbellsville’s team.
