The Glasgow High School Lady Scotties held off a late charge by Todd County Central Monday night to claim a 59-46 victory in the first round of the All ‘A’ Region 4 Basketball Classic. The Lady Scotties didn’t have the best of nights shooting the ball, but like a lot of teams making a run for the postseason, they kicked it into gear on defense and on the backboards.
“I think we took some steps of growing up tonight because we were able to go ahead and finish it out and we didn’t totally fall apart,” said Glasgow coach Justin Stinson. “However, we have to work on being more consistent. Our effort has to be more consistent, our rebounding has to be more consistent. And I think the fact we were able to rebound the basketball well tonight was the difference in the ballgame.”
Leading 30-19 at the half, the Lady Scotties had to fight off the Todd County Central charge. TCC standout Ariel Johnson started getting hot and worked to get her team back in the game. She opened the third period with a bucket, and when she nailed a jumper at the 5:31 mark, Todd County Central was within 10 at 33-23.
