If John Butler could have scripted his team’s game with Warren East prior to playing on Tuesday, his plan probably wouldn’t have been any better than what actually happened.
The Barren County Trojanettes ran over the Warren East Lady Raiders and picked up an easy 67-46 win.
“I was really glad we won. I would have liked to have played cleaner than we did, but I am tickled to death we picked up the win,” Butler said. “Kelsey Cummings was just fantastic tonight. And I was very pleased that Kennedy Logsdon is back (from injury). Tonight was her first game back and she did a great job for us. It was a good night for us.”
The “good night” began right away as the Trojanettes were just too much for a young Warren East team on both ends of the floor. Cummings, who scored 31 points, led the BCHS charge throughout the game. Her nine-point barrage at the end of the first period gave Barren County a 25-6 advantage.
The rout continued for Barren County in the second quarter. A bucket by Deanie Pedigo gave the Trojanettes a 29-6 lead with 6:32 to go in the half, and when Cummings made four straight free throws, Barren County led 36-11 with 3:51 on the clock.
