The Glasgow High School Lady Scotties traveled to Caverna this week and pulled off a narrow 5-4 tennis victory over the Lady Colonels. Glasgow is now 3-0-1.
Glasgow won only two of the six singles matches. Victoria Watson, playing No. 3 for Glasgow, beat Destinee Jones 8-3 and Kaylie Howard beat Lauren Reed 8-0 at the No. 4 position.
Caverna, however, took the early lead with four singles wins. Logan Bush beat Brooklyn Brown at the No. 1 spot and Danielle Carver slipped by Glasgow’s Palmer Lessenbery 9-7 at No. 2. Caverna also picked up wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. Sarah Dill beat Kristen Garmon 8-0 and Cecilia Price knocked off Lindsey Garmon at No. 6 by a score of 8-0.
However, the Lady Scotties pulled off the victory by sweeping all three doubles matches. Megan Jones and Blair Correll won the No. 1 match for Glasgow by a score of 8-5. HollyAnn Carter and McKenzie Frazier teammed up to beat Caverna’s Destinee Jones and Reed at the No. 2 position by a score of 8-1. And Kristen Garmon and Howard won the No. 3 doubles match.
