Trojanettes prepare for Woodford County tourney

GLASGOW — Instead of heading south to play softball in Florida, Barren County High School Softball Coach Kevin Jackson will be taking his team north this weekend to compete in the prestigious Woodford County Spring Break Escape in Versailles.

The tournament features a loaded field with several Top 25 teams. Pool play begins Friday with tournament play starting on Saturday.

“I think there are four or five Top 25 teams in the field,” Jackson said.

“Central Hardin is one of the better teams in the field. Woodford County Meade County, Lexington Dunbar, Shelby County, all of those teams are in the field and all are very good softball programs.”

Barren County, currently 4-3 on the season, will open pool play against Christian Academy of Louisville at 4:30 p.m. The Trojanettes close out the day with a game against Franklin-Simpson at 6 p.m. Saturday’s games are single elimination.
