The Barren County High School Trojans used a three-run fifth inning recently to help them take a big 3-1 victory on the road at Franklin-Simpson.
Both teams opened the game with solid defense as neither team could generate much offensive power.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when the Trojans plated three.
With one out, Cole Payne singled and Derek Gossett reached on a walk. Barrett Billingsley followed that with a walk to load the bases for the Trojans.
Alex Puleo came up and he also reached on a walk that forced in Payne. Josh Owen followed Puleo with a single to right field to score Gossett and Billingsley to give Barren County a 3-0 lead.
