Hiseville’s Strader to join journalism hall of fame

GLASGOW — Hiseville native Wes Strader, the former longtime play-by-play voice for Western Kentucky University football and men's basketball, is among the inductees in the 2014 class of the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.

Strader, the voice of the Hilltoppers from 1964-2000, will be honored at the induction luncheon April 29 in Lexington. The other honorees are Elizabeth Hansen of Eastern Kentucky University, Mark Hebert of WHAS-TV, Dave McBride of the Ohio County Times News, Lee Mueller of the Lexington Herald-Leader, Mike Philipps of the Kentucky Post/Cincinnati Post and Hunter S. Thompson, considered the creator of “Gonzo” journalism.

The Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame is overseen by the University of Kentucky School of Journalism and Telecommunications.

The luncheon will be held at The Grand Reserve at 903 Manchester St., Suite No. 190, in Lexington. The cost is $35 per person and payment must be received by April 18 to reserve a seat.
