The cold snap at the beginning of the week has kept all but the dedicated fishermen off the water. However, those who have ventured out are still catching fish, mainly bass and crappie.
I received a photo from old-timer friend Larry Spencer of Troy Tabor and his dad with a limit of crappie they caught in the Barren River over the weekend. I have heard of several reports of good catches of crappie in the lake, too. I was also told that some are being caught 1 or 2 feet deep.
Bass are also hitting well. Some are having success with light spinner baits.
