The Glasgow Scotties and Lady Scotties split a tennis doubleheader with visiting Metcalfe County on Thursday. The GHS boys beat the Hornets 4-3, while the Lady Scotties lost 4-1.
Brian Sadler opened the game with Glasgow’s first victory at the No. 2 singles position. He defeated Will Pemberton, 8-0. Nick Stone followed up with an 8-2 victory over Metcalfe County’s Lucas Firkins at the No. 3 position and Trent Bosse beat Logan Firkins 8-2 at No. 4.
Metcalfe County picked up a win at the No. 1 spot when Jackson Bell beat Cody Jones 8-5.
In doubles play, Ashab Ahmed and Adam Garrett lost to Metcalfe County’s Hayden Crain and Bell 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 1 position. Stuart Dickinson and Bosse lost 6-4, 3-6, 9-11 at No. 2 to tie the match
Glasgow picked up the match win at No. 3 doubles when Dalton Bishop and Stone beat Zander Yates and Cody Hart, 8-1.
The Lady Scotties weren’t as lucky as the Scotties in their match against the Lady Hornets. Glasgow’s lone victory came at the No. 2 singles position when Sloan Bull beat Reagan Martin by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Metcalfe County earned a win at No. 1 singles when Konnor Gallagher beat Brooklyn Brown by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
The Lady Hornets swept the doubles matches. Sydney Edwards and Lauren Coffey beat Megan Jones and Blair Correll 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 1 match. Molly Matney and Lindsey Compton teamed up to beat Glasgow’s Morgan Mills and Pooja Santapuram by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Hannah Bruce and Kensy Edwards wrapped things up for the Lady Hornets with an 8-6 victory over Katie Jones and Yasmean Fogle at the No. 3 position.
