Scotties thump Caverna; Morgan has big day

GLASGOW — The Glasgow High School Scotties ran their season record to 2-0 with an 18-0 victory at Caverna in baseball action Friday afternoon. Dillon Hernandez picked up the win on the mound for GHS.

He went three innings and faced 10 batters. He allowed no runs on no hits, walked one and struck out seven.

The Scotties jumped on top early with four runs in the top of the first inning.

Taylor “Pudge” Morgan highlighted the inning with a two-run double to score James Kingery and Tyler Pitcock. Connor Glass knocked in a run and later scored.

Morgan knocked in two more runs in the third inning with a two-run single. This time he plated Pitcock and Glass to make it 6-0.

Glasgow broke the game open in the fourth inning when the Scotties sent 17 batters to the plate. They scored 12 runs on just four hits and four Caverna errors.

Glass, Kingery, Dalton Shoemake and Austin Asher knocked in runs in the inning.

Dylan Poore came on in relief of Hernandez. He threw one inning and faced five batters. He walked one and struck out one.

Sam Richardson closed out the game for the Scotties, going one inning and striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Glasgow will visit Metcalfe County on Saturday at noon for the first round of the All “A” Regional Tournament.
