Trojans lose 6-3 to Nelson County

GLASGOW — The Barren County Trojans fell to 1-1 on the year Friday night when they dropped a 6-3 baseball decision to pre-season ranked Nelson County.

Barren County got behind early as Nelson County scored five runs in the second inning and one in the fourth to take an early 6-0 advantage. The Trojans came back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Andrew Hughes singled and Ty Hay came on as a courtesy runner and quickly stole second base.

Ellis Wininger walked and Barrett Billingsley reached on an error by the shortstop, allowing Hay to score. Billingsley then stole second and Cole Payne was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Andy Highbaugh then slammed a double to score Billingsley and Payne.

Cole Scott got the start for the Trojans. He went three innings, allowing five runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out two. Britt Crabtree threw the next two innings, giving up one run on two hits. He also struck out two and walked one. Hunter Carroll closed out the game for BCHS.

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday when they host Greenwood at noon.
