When the boys’ basketball coaches in the 15th District talk about next week’s tournament draw and how the teams stack up, one of the four teams seems to draw a lot of interest.
Sure, Barren County is the No. 1 seed and the Trojans, with their experience, are favored to win the tournament. However, the team a lot of the coaches have been keeping their eyes on is Monroe County, the tournament’s No. 2 seed. The Falcons are playing very well when it counts – at the end of the regular season.
“I think we’re doing pretty well right now,” said Monroe County coach Steven Kirkpatrick. “We’re very confident in what we’re doing. We try to keep our focus on what we’re doing and we’re playing really good defense right now. We just want to keep it going.”
The Falcons will play the final game of the night on Monday when they take on the No. 3 seed Allen County-Scottsville Patriots. Monroe County won both meetings between the two teams during the regular season.
