Scotties begin hunt for regional golf title

GLASGOW — While some coaches who lose three of their top five players from the previous year to graduation may be a little pensive about the upcoming season, Glasgow High School golf coach Mike Harris is ready to go. Gone are Dalton Fant, Thomas Kingery and Steely Harris from a 2012 squad that made it to the state tournament.

But highlighting the young Glasgow roster this year will be juniors Michael Harris, Cody Jones and freshman Chase Landrum.

“We’re very young this year. We have no seniors, so we’re probably going to take our lumps early in the season. I expect that,” said coach Harris. “But by the end of the year, we have some kids that should be playing some very good golf.

“We start with one of the premiere players in the state in Chase Landrum. He finished in the Top 20 in the state last year and he’s had a fantastic summer. He’s gotten bigger and stronger and he will definitely be a player to watch.”

The Scotties will open their season on Friday at the Cumberland County Invitational at Dale Hollow State Park.
