The Greenwood Lady Gators are annually one of the top prep softball teams in the state and the 2013 season is no different. Greenwood, currently ranked No. 1 in the state, was too much for the Glasgow Lady Scotties Tuesday night, rolling to an 11-1 victory.
“They’re the No. 1 team in the state and they showed why tonight,” said Glasgow coach Steven Murphy. “But our girls competed. We actually led early in the game and the runs they did score, they had to earn them. It was a good experience for our team, especially our younger girls, and something we can build on as we get ready for Allen County on Thursday.”
The Lady Scotties got out on top early with a solo run in the first inning. Kelsey Greer singled and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by McKenna Wood. Bailey Alexander followed that with a walk and Greer came around to score on a fielder’s choice by Haven Hernandez.
