Monroe County girls down Cumberland County

GLASGOW — The Monroe County Lady Falcons breezed by the Cumberland County Lady Panthers Tuesday evening, earning a 66-49 victory.

The Lady Falcons struggled early. The two teams battled back and forth and closed out the first period with the score tied at 12. Monroe County began to pull away in the second quarter as the Lady Falcons took at 29-21 lead into the locker room. They kept the pressure on in the second half and led 49-31 as the end of the third period.

Reagan Turner scored 18 points to lead Monroe County in scoring. Kayla Murray and Lauren Turner scored a dozen each. Lakota Ethridge chipped in six, while Payton Cloyd got five. Kelsey Kirkpatrick and Kelsey Johnson helped out by scoring four points a piece, while Ashlee McGeorge got three.

Trojanettes lose by one

The Barren County Trojanettes lost a heartbreaking 51-50 decision to the Russell County Lady Lakers Tuesday night.

The Trojanettes were ahead by one, 13-12, during the first eight minutes of play. At halftime, Barren County fell behind, 30-22. But the Trojanettes came fighting back and tied the score at 41 as the third period came to a close.

Deanie Pedigo led the BCHS offense with 18 points, while Olivia Poynter scored 13. Emily Blair had 8. Rachael Fields tallied 5 and Taylor Davis got 4. Kennedy Logsdon got 2.
