Glasgow to battle rival Monroe in tourney

GLASGOW — Two bitter rivals will meet – once again – this week in the semifinals of the All “A” Classic Region 4 Basketball Tournament.

In the girls’ tournament on Wednesday at Todd County Central High School in Elkton, Glasgow (12-6) will battle district foe Monroe County (11-6) in the first semifinal at 6 p.m.

Todd County Central (3-13) will host Cumberland County (9-7) in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Scotties have had Monroe County’s number recently, winning the last two meetings between the teams. Glasgow beat the Lady Falcons earlier this season by a score of 53-48 in Tompkinsville.

The same two schools will meet Thursday in the first game of the boys’ semifinals.

Glasgow (9-8) will face Monroe County (13-5) in the first game at 6 p.m. The Falcons have held the upper hand lately, winning each of the last two meetings between the teams.

Russellville (6-11) will play the host Todd County Central Rebels (6-11) in the final game of the night.

The girls’ championship game will be Friday at 6 p.m. with the boys’ championship game starting at 8 p.m.

If Todd County Central does not reach the girls’ or boys’ finals, the championship games will be moved to another site.
