GLASGOW — Glasgow's new boys' basketball coach is a man with a great deal of coaching experience.
Mike Harris was introduced as the new head coach Thursday morning in the auditorium of Glasgow High School.
He said he has accepted the role for a one-year interim so as to allow the school to conduct a detailed search for a full-time coach.
"I will retire from all of my positions in June. I felt obligated to do this in my last year," Harris said.
He has won five state titles as a girls' golf coach at GHS and has also been the boys' golf coach for four years. He was the girls' basketball coach from 1992-2005.
Harris has been in the Glasgow Independent School District since 1984, starting immediatly after graduating from Cumberland College, where he played basketball.
He was also a member of the 1977 Glasgow team that won the Fourth Region Tournament, the last team to do so, he said.
Harris will continue as the boys' golf coach through the 2014 season.
