Glasgow 12U all-stars lose to Campbellsville

GLASGOW — The Glasgow 12-Under All-Stars dropped to the losers’ bracket of the Little League District Tournament in Springfield Monday night when they dropped an 18-4 decision to Campbellsville. Glasgow, now 1-1 after thumping Adair County 20-1 earlier this weekend, will play Russell County Tuesday in an elimination game. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.

The Scotties jumped on top first with three runs in the first inning. Connor Taylor put Glasgow on the scoreboard with a 3-run homer. The Scotties scored again in the second to widen their lead to 4-2.

“The kids were seeing the ball well and I thought we were going to play well tonight,” said Glasgow coach Ervin Sorrell. “We certainly had our chances. We just couldn’t get the runs across the plate.”

Campbellsville scored two in the second inning and six in the third to make it 8-4. The Tigers continued to pack on the runs with two more in the fifth and eight runs in the sixth inning.

“We talked after the game about how we’re going to have to come ready to play Tuesday,” Sorrell said. “Russell County is a good team and they’re not going to lay down for us. We’re going to have to pitch well and put the ball in play. It is do or die for us.”
