GHS girls roll to easy victory in BCHS Invitational

GLASGOW — The Glasgow High School Ladies Scotties put three players in the 70s Saturday to capture first at the Barren County High School Golf Invitational at Barren River State Park.

Glasgow finished with a 305, 24 strokes ahead of Paul Lawrence Dunbar. Barren County High School was third at 338 with Allen County fourth at 340 and Monroe County fifth at 345.

Ashton Foushee led the way for Glasgow with a 71. She lost in a playoff for medalist honors to Allen County's Rachel Carter. Taylor Phelps shot 72 for the Lady Scotties with Emily Alexander at 74. Katie Jones fired an 88 and Emmalee Lawrence rounded out the scoring with a 91.

Kylie Withrow had the low score for Barren County Saturday, leading the team with a 75. Lyn-Dawsyn Steenbergen and Emmory Shipley fired identical 85s, while Jill Florence and Mikayla Wyatt shot 93s.

Phelps finished third in the individual standings, behind Carter and Foushee. Alexander was fourth overall and Withrow was fifth.
