Lady Scotties roll past Metcalfe Co.

GLASGOW — The Glasgow Lady Scotties won big on their home court Tuesday night as they defeated the now 16-10 Lady Hornets of Metcalfe County 63-42. Glasgow has 16 wins and 5 losses on the year.

Coach Justin Stinson used a familiar recipe on his home court to gain a lopsided victory, but it wasn’t exactly to plan.

When his guards could, they got the ball to his talented power players Shalika Smith and Breanna Glover, when they couldn’t they fired jumpers from the outside. Unfortunately for the Lady Scotties, the Lady Hornets were able to get Smith and Glover into early foul trouble.

Stinson said, “It was more of a mental win than anything else. I thought we did a really good job battling adversity. We battled foul trouble and there has been times we fell all to pieces when foul trouble hit. We got early fouls and quick fouls in the first quarter. It didn’t seem to faze us. We played with a lot of poise. We continued to click our offense.”

Five minutes and 11 seconds into the game Metcalfe County led Glasgow 12-8 with 6 foot tall, eighth-grader MacKenzie Coleman scoring six of the 12.

It was then the poise Stinson talked about became obvious. Glasgow went on a 26-7 run to close the half.
