Metcalfe Co. girls focused on prize, ready for Glasgow

GLASGOW — The Metcalfe County Lady Hornets have hit the final stretch of their regular season basketball schedule and they begin that four-game run with a trip to Glasgow High School on Tuesday night. And though they would love nothing more than to pick up a victory against the Lady Scotties, head coach Pete DiStefano has his team focused on the big picture.

The Lady Hornets open the District 16 Tournament on Feb. 19 against Clinton County and that contest, right now, is the most important game on the Metcalfe County schedule.

“I know they’re Glasgow and I know they’re right down the road. But we’re trying to get ready for our district tournament,” said DiStefano. “Our primary focus the last two weeks, no matter who our opponent is, is to make sure we’re playing good basketball heading into the district tournament.

“We’re not so much worried about Glasgow, or any of the teams we have left, as much as we are staying injury free, playing really good basketball and getting better.”
