The Glasgow High School Scotties couldn’t seem to put it all together on either end of the basketball court this past weekend as the Scotties dropped a 71-49 decision to state powerhouse John Hardin on Saturday night in the championship game of the TJ Samson Community Hospital Holiday Basketball Classic.
The Bulldogs led from the beginning, maintaining a double-digit lead for most of the game.
“I thought we were a step slow from the beginning. I could see it early in the game,” said Glasgow coach John Tinsley. “I don’t have an answer for that. We just didn’t play as sharp mentally as we do normally and we didn’t have much emotion tonight like we normally have. You have to give John Hardin credit, they played very well. They had control of the ballgame from the tip and that’s what good teams do.”
John Hardin got up 14-13 at the end of the first period. And behind relentless defensive pressure, the Bulldogs held the Scotties to only five points in the second period, taking a 30-18 advantage into the locker room at intermission.
