Glasgow High School beats Allen County-Scottsville

GLASGOW — The Glasgow Scotties picked up a 15-1 win over Allen County-Scottsville in a 15th District baseball game at ACS on Tuesday.

Jon Thomas Green went the distance on the mound as the Scotties improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the district. Green struck out seven and allowed only three hits.

Glasgow jumped ahead early, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Lead-off hitter Ryan Hinkley drew a walk and stole second. Bryce Logsdon reached base on a dropped third strike, then Green was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Connor Glass followed with a bloop single behind first base that scored Hinkley and kept the bases loaded.

James Kingery next drew a walk that pushed Logsdon across home plate. Pudge Morgan followed with a single that drove in Dylan Lane, who was running for Green. After a strike out, Josh Boggs drew a walk that scored Glass.

Glasgow added four more runs in the top of the second inning. Hinkley led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on a single by Green. Green stole second before being replaced on the base path by Lane.

Glass followed with a rocket shot to third base that was not played and it allowed Hinkley to score. Kingery drew a walk to load the bases and Morgan drove in Lane with a single to center field. Glass later scored on a single by Boggs and Kingery scored on the same play when Kantosky stretched out a run down long enough for him to cross home plate.

Allen County got two of its hits in the bottom of the second inning and scored its lone run.

The Scotties posted two more runs in the top of the fourth inning and finished the game with five runs in the top of the fifth.

Glass drew a walk to lead-off the fourth. Morgan drove him in with a one-out double. Kantosky, running for Morgan, later scored on a single by Tyler Pitcock.

Needing one run and three outs to end the game on a mercy rule, the Scotties posted five runs in the top of the fifth.

With one out, Logsdon was hit by a pitch, then stole second. Green drove in Logsdon with a full-count single. Lane, running for Green, moved to third on a double by Glass and later scored on a ground out by Kingery.

Morgan followed with a shot deep in the outfield that was misplayed, which allowed Glass to score and allowed Morgan to hustle to third base. Walker Newberry ran for Morgan and scored on a ball hit by Pitcock. Finally, Boggs drove in Pitcock with a single.

Green struck out two in the bottom of the fifth inning to seal the victory.

The Scotties are scheduled to host Greenwood on Thursday at Richardson Field at 5:30 p.m. in a non-district contest.
