Metcalfe County faces tough task at Bardstown

GLASGOW — Freddie Harbison has been very pleased with the progress he’s seen from his Metcalfe County High School football team this season. The Hornets’ team that opened the year with a 28-0 loss to Barren County is not the same football team that beat Caverna 44-6 last Friday night in the regular season finale.

And for Harbison, that’s a good thing because the Hornets open the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 2A playoffs Friday night at Bardstown.

“The playoffs are really not a new season. It’s just a carryover, really, from the regular season,” said Harbison. “What you hope for is that your team has gotten better each game through the regular season.

“If you’re a lower seed in the tournament, you hope you’ve caught up with the rest of the teams through improvement throughout the year. And we think we’ve seen that.”

The Hornets (3-7) and the Bardstown Tigers (9-1) will kick things off at 7 p.m. CST.
