Colonels, Monroe County girls pick up wins

GLASGOW — The Caverna Colonels were able to squeak by the Campbellsville Eagles on Monday.

During the first period, Campbellsville led 11-14. The Colonels turned things around at halftime; the score was 28-25. At the end of the third quarter, Caverna was able to increase their lead to 43-36. When the final buzzer sounded, it was 63-55.

Mason Faulkner tipped in 18 points, while Trevor Stephens tallied 17. Devon Paul scored 13 points. Anthony Phillips got 6, while Devon Perry and DeAngelo Paul scored four points each.

“It was a close game throughout,” said Caverna coach Blake Button, “We shot 25 out of 31 free throws to help keep the lead. They want to be all A champions.”

Monroe County girls beat Clinton County

On Monday, the Monroe County Lady Falcons whizzed past the Clinton County Lady Bulldogs. The final tally was 67-44.

“We played great team ball and real good defense,” said Monroe County Lady Falcons assistant coach Loretta Stephens.

Kelsey Kirkpatrick led the offense with 18 points, while Reagan Turner scored 16. Lauren Turner chipped in 13. Kellimae Polston helped out with seven points, while Kayla Murray got four. Kelsey Johnson had three. Lakota Ethridge, Ashlee McGeorge and Shelby Sparks scored two a piece.

Caverna girls advance in tournament

The Caverna Lady Colonels easily blazed by the Campbellsville Lady Eagles Monday night.

During the first quarter, Caverna scored more than twice the points as Campbellsville; the score was 21-10. Caverna led 46-24 at the end of the half. It was 46-24 Colonels during the third quarter. The final score was 65-37, Caverna.

“They played well first half, let down in the third quarter and picked up in the fourth. They had ninth double-double of the season,” said Lady Colonels coach Cornelius Faulkner.

Madison Faulkner led the way with 25 points, while Ciara Waggoner shot 16. Shanda Bradley was also in the double-digits, with 14 points. Kiara  Kirk made eight points and Hailey Graves chipped in two.
