Caverna faced a tough opponent in 8-1 Kentucky Country Day, and a big run and a bigger size difference did the 1-8 Colonels in on Friday with a 48-6 loss.
“We came out in the first quarter and played really well,” said head coach Rodney Middleton. “But we gave up a big run after that and it kind of snowballed from there.”
The Colonels had a hard time stopping the Bearcats, mostly because Caverna didn’t have the size they needed to compete, Middleton said.
“There’s not much I can do to make this positive,” Middleton said.
So the team is looking forward, to a game against the Hornets of Metcalfe County (2-7) next Friday. Caverna has a speed advantage against the Hornets, Middleton said.
“It should be a good, competitive game,” he said. “We just have to keep practicing what we always practice, getting our offense going and playing our defense.”
Caverna meets Metcalfe in their season-ender at home, starting at 7 p.m.
