The Glasgow High School Scotties split their first two games in the Arby's/KFC Holiday Classic at McCreary Central High School in Stearns on Saturday. The Scotties lost the first game 61-43 to Danville, but followed that with a 56-52 victory over Casey County.
"We were down 32-27 at half to Danville,' said Glasgow coach John Tinsley. "Danville is a very athletic team and to play a team like that after playing an emotional game the night before at Monroe County, that's difficult. We just didn't have any legs and we couldn't make our shots."
Anthony Walker and Milas Norris led the way for Glasgow with 10 points each. Quentel Bradley had nine, while James Kingrey scored six and Connor Glass had five. Nelson Glass tallied two points and Julius Shirley had one.
Against Casey County, the Scotties put four players in double figures as they used a balanced offense to secure the win.
Bradley led the way with 13 points, while Walker and Norris had 12 points each and Connor Glass chipped in with 11.
"We were down 28-18 in the second half, but we clawed back to get the win," Tinsley said. "I am really proud of the kids' effort. Anthony hit four free throws in the final seven seconds to get the win. He hit some clutch shots."
The Scotties will travel back to Stearns on Sunday to face McCreary Central.
