GLASGOW — If there were any questions lingering about how good the basketball teams were in the 15th District, all of those questions were answered Friday night when the Barren County Trojans, previously undefeated in district action, had to go into overtime before disposing of the Monroe County Falcons, 65-62.

After the game, Barren County coach Warren Cunningham looked like he had just been in a brawl.

“Monroe County is a really good team and they’ve got some guys [who] can play,” said Cunningham. “The aggressiveness they play with and the physicality they play with gave us some trouble tonight.”

“This was a great high school basketball game,” said Monroe County coach Steve Kirkpatrick. “I told my kids this is what high school basketball is all about. We played our hearts out and Barren County played their hearts out. Someone has to win and someone has to lose. We just came up a little bit short tonight.”
