There were a lot of big smiles in the huddle as Kevin Jackson brought his Barren County High School Trojanettes together Tuesday after they rolled over Cumberland County 14-4 in softball action. The win was the first victory of the season for Barren County.
“We just wanted to get that first one. They’re never easy,” said Jackson, in his first season at BCHS.
“We came [to the program] and we wanted to work hard and we preach that to the kids. If they don’t see any success early, they start to question things. You always like to see them get the first win and have some fun with it.
“I thought we swung the bats well tonight, got some big hits with two strikes. And I like that. You always want to see your kids battling at the plate with two strikes. Any win is good, but the first one is always special.”
