Trojans hope to start winning streak

Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW — Barren County football coach Jason Esters wants to see more from his team’s offense like what it showed in quarters two through four last Friday.

After spotting the Logan County Cougars 21 points in the first period, the Trojans scored the next 20 points in the game, mostly through the combined running efforts of Logan Rich and Derek Gossett.

“That was the first time we had the starting unit of the offensive line together since the Glasgow game,” Esters said. “For some reason it (option run) started to click for us that game. That’s the way we wanted it to be all season.”

The one-point loss last week ended Barren’s hopes of making the playoffs, leaving two games in the regular season.

“We want to win both of them for our seniors so they can go out on a winning streak,” the coach said. “It will be good for our program to go into the off season on a winning streak.”

Esters added there will be some changes to the lineup on the field, but that has mostly to do with players returning from injuries. “We do have some changes in our lineups that don’t have anything to do with young versus old.
